Killa Kyleon ft Gudda Gudda - Hold Up (Official Music Video 2010)

Murs & 9th Wonder

Los Angeles-based alternative rapper Murs is no stranger to North Carolina. He has recorded three albums with Durham-based producer 9th Wonder (formerly of Little Brother and well known for his work with Beyonce and Mary J. Blige).
For their fourth collaboration, "Fornever," Murs and 9th Wonder recorded on the rapper's home turf.
"Fornever" features both parties on the cover and is credited to Murs and 9th Wonder as a duo. "He does all the work. I just rap," says Murs.
"Fornever" is heavy on relationship-oriented tracks and female backing vocals. Murs says he's catching equal flak online and requests on tour for the song "Asian Girl," which began with 9th Wonder's catchy Chinese restaurant-sounding hook.
"Some Asian girls love it and make it their ring tone; some find it offensive."
Murs' rhyming is often part old school hip-hop and part folk storyteller.
`"A lot of people tell me that's my best work.... I love narratives," he says.
Among "Fornever's" topics are PMS, the downside of falling for a porn star, and boozing and smoking. But Murs, who often criticizes the rap community for perpetuating violence, touches on questionable behavior without glorifying it. "The end result is, there's a moral to every story," he says.
"I do it to remind you that you can get up every day and try to change."

Curren$y 2010 Major Moves

http://www.youtube.com/watch#!v=YeXtdn3QhIc&feature=related

So here we go. Dame Dash, after bouts with bankruptcy, betrayal and divorce, Damon Dash is back on the grind doing what he does best… finding great, undiscovered talent, and bringing it to the forefront. Looks like thats what he’s doing with his new Project, Creative Control TV and his new prodigy, Curren$y. Hailing from the NO, Curren$y was picked up after Lil Wayne dropped him from his “Young Money” label… probably to focus on the phenomenon currently known as Drake.  Might have been a mistake on his part. But everything happens for a reason. I think Curren$y might be a bit too grown for that “Young Money” madness.
So after being haggled by a friend to check out his mixtapes (most of which you can find here), I gave it a chance. And while his earlier joints are a bit repetitive in subject matter (being fly, fu*king fly bitches, getting money, ect), you can hear that the flow and delivery is all there…. especially with key tracks like “Modern Day Hippie.”
For “Life Under The Scope,” it sounds as if Dame took this kid under his wings and simply told him to step his game up a bit… diversify his lyrics and build his wordplay skills, which were already there. And he did… with great results. Check out these two videos… and especially “Breakfast,” where he really shows his lyrical prowless and storytelling abilities while telling you his ideal of utopia.

I have to give it to Damon. It looks like he’s got something going for himself here (again). Part of me really didn’t want to admit that, due to past assholery on his part. But he’s getting it together personally and musically… which is whats important. While the website is clean, nice and filled with great content for you to explore, the talent he’s accumulating is even nicer. Blak Roc, a project with The Black Keys, Mos Def, Nikki (Nicole) Wray, Pharoae Monch, Q-Tip,  The RZA and others…. is making great music that deserves a post of its own. And with a roster that like that… I think this could be the start of a good thing. If he’s learned from the past. Well see.
